Fall 2008
We haven't been good about updating our news because we
have been so busy! This should catch you up with some of
the many projects in production at JSP.

We continue to produce a terrific amount of high quality animation for our many diverse clients and they keep returning for more! We would love to count you as one of our pleased clientele, so give us a call about your next project and let's see what we can create together.

Summer / Fall 2008

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL - "Five Years on Mars"
We've been on location on Mars this summer and fall with award winning producer Mark Davis of MDTV and Dan Maas of Maas Digital!
Collaborating with David Gregg and his team at Digital Magic Animation and using the latest tools from Sidefx Houdini including the brand new FBX translator (making it possible to share our houdini scene files with David's Maya team), we created 31 shots to contribute to this superb HD program about NASA's Mars rovers, Spirit and Opportunity.

Special thanks go to Dan Maas for his creative and technical guidance, David Gregg for his un-yielding good nature and outstanding job on lighting, shaders, render and compositing , Jason Simmons for his brilliant rigging of our rover and illustrator Reid Schwartz for hundreds of beautiful background plates. Thanks also go to the rest of the crew who contributed their talent and time to making this photo-realistic trip to Mars possible. See a full list of credits at the National Geographic "Five Years on Mars" website (link below).

The program will air on November 2nd, at 8PM. For more information about the program look here: National Geographic Channel

This program will air November 29th at 7PM, as a one hour special for the "Save Our History" series on the History Channel. For more information about the program look here: History Channel

CAPTURED LIGHT STUDIO - Alcon Laboratories
Alcon decided an update for their Computer Learning Program
"Cataract Advisor" was needed, complete with all new animation and content. Working together with the team at Captured Light Studio we produced several minutes of animation depicting some of their newest techniques for removing cataracts.

We also created animation explaining the technique for inserting
Alcon's new Phakic Lens Implant into the anterior chamber of the eye.

PALFREMAN FILM GROUP - PBS Frontline and a PBS Special
Working with Jon Palfreman we contributed graphics for a thought provoking program for PBS Frontline about health care, which describes the various ways care is paid for and delivered around the world.

We also finished production on a broadcast project for a PBS Special about scientist Tommy Gold. This program covers such diverse subject matter as the Pathology of Hearing, the Big Bang versus Steady State Theories, and the Biogenic Theory of Oil. Stay tuned for more information about this fascinating project.
